EDITOR’S NOTE: If you didn’t see the post-credit scene in Venom, you may want to turn away…and go get that DVD. And you call yourself a nerd?! *SPOILERS AHEAD*
Cletus Kasady is flustered and full of angst in the post-credits scene of the Sony Pictures runaway hit of the second season in 2018. Venom did more than take a risky move by offering a PG-13 version of Spidey’s singular villain (without Spider-Man in the movie).
It created it without true Marvel multiverse supervision–and it was great. Sure, the schmaltzy repartee between Eddie Brock and his symbiote sidekick waxed a little too comedic for the purists, but somehow, it worked to the tune of $855 million and earning the No. 15 most profitable CBM in history.
The rumors were swirling because of Woody Harrelson’s line of mystery, and now thanks to Variety, we have confirmation — Venom will battle Carnage in the sequel!
“When I get out of here, and I will, there’s gonna be carnage.”
Yeah, we all knew it was coming after he said that but now that it’s official with Woody, Michelle Williams, and even acclaimed screenwriter Kelly Marcel each coming back, all Brock and Kasady fans get to dance, shout in creepy muffled voice, and miss a high-five.
