Rocking your way to a ‘Best Actor’ on Oscar night can do a few things for your career.
The man once only known as ‘Mr. Robot‘ on the USA Network (very underrated series if you haven’t binged or followed) will now always be seen as the man who played Freddie.
Shortly after the champagne has stopped bubbling, news has come out that Rami Malek’s next role could be just as memorable. Variety reports he is being eyed to play the villain in the highly anticipated Bond movie.
Speaking of Robot, this is the last season so Malek will be very active with taping, which shoots March through July. That could pose a problem as Cary Fukunaga is finishing the script for the 25th milestone film in the franchise right now.
Insiders say while meetings with other talent have taken place, producers never wavered on trying to land the role for Malek and have worked hard for months to accommodate both shoots.
There are a few other ingredients to that recipe: This is a newly minted Oscar winner, a benchmark movie, one of the greatest franchises in film history, Daniel Craig’s (regretful) last time out as Ian Fleming’s spy, and the final season of a TV series that could use the pub.
Of course, they’ll resolve any scheduling conflicts.
MGM will release the ‘Bond 25’ film on Feb. 14, 2020 through a partnership with Annapurna Pictures.
