Over the past 11 years, Marvel Studios has accomplished nothing but astonishment to the world. With the collection of 23 films and a multitude of shows, there doesn’t seem to be anything stopping Marvel. I’m here to tell you all that day won’t be coming…at least not anytime soon.
And here are four big reasons why…
Fox Merger
If you haven’t heard already, or live under a rock, Disney Studios officially completed the acquisition of 21st Century Fox for $71.3 billion. Due to the colossal merger, Disney now has rights to all of Fox-owned Marvel characters, such as X-Men and Fantastic Four.
After 11 years of Marvel Studios having limited characters, this is the best thing that could happen for the MCU’s future. The possibilities in the MCU are endless. For example, Silver Surfer can now fight alongside Doctor Strange, Deadpool or Spider-Man can share a conversation. Anything’s possible.
Some people like to talk about the MCU slowing down, eventually running out of steam. With the acquisition of Fox, that’s not happening. It’s safe to say that the Fox characters won’t show up for some time since Marvel has already planned Phase 4, but there’s still a chance for post-credit scenes or easter eggs. Either way, there is only room to grow.
Marvel Studios Has A Set Plan
We have seen from time-to-time in the history of film, many studios do not have a full, mapped-out plan for their movies, story, or end goal. This was probably the biggest reason many fans hated Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. Disney had no plan for the new Star Wars trilogy and it was blatantly clear.
Marvel Studios has a clear plan for each of their characters, stories, and arcs. It’s the Midas Touch with all of those things, and no other production house as proven to come close (with the exception of maybe Blumhouse and The Conjuring universe). Fans know this already because Marvel proved it during the whole Infinity Saga of the MCU.
Phase 4 is here, and inside of it are the plans for Black Widow and The Eternals this year, plus The Falcon and Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki series are coming to Disney Plus.
On top of that, I think people forget that Marvel has three films and four shows releasing in 2021. MCU’s Spider-Man hasn’t been announced at the moment which has been confirmed for a 2021 release date. Also, Marvel has a few announced projects without any current release date, such as Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Blade, and Ms. Marvel.
Adding character series to Disney Plus is an outright genius move by Marvel Studios–releasing shows with a movie-like budget through their own streaming service. Now fans can get more invested with the characters from home and may even get more people locked into the MCU.
These phases were one hell of an idea from Marvel Studios and I can’t wait for the potential it holds in the future. This is all thanks to the mastermind of Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige. The brain of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige most likely has the next 15 years of the MCU planned out already. To be quite honest, I wouldn’t be stunned at all.
Established Characters
One of the most underrated elements about the MCU is that it has been created some of the best and most likable characters ever put on screen. We flock to theaters to see Tony Stark’s wit, Steve Rogers courage, and Peter Parker’s light-hearted charm.
The main reason people go back to these movies is to see the future of these beloved characters and where their stories exist within a greater cinematic universe.
Marvel Studios established many characters for fans worldwide. People don’t forget the experiences that come along with these characters. Established characters will pull audiences back to the theater many times over, and thanks to Phase 4 and whatever else Kevin Feige has under his sleeve, our trips back to the theater will continue.
Die-Hard Fanbase
Marvel has one of the most devoted and passionate fan bases in the world. These crazed fans won’t stop rushing to MCU movies. If the MCU starts to decline in quality, many fans will stay by Marvel’s side.
The proof is found in DC Comics and Warner Bros.
Even after many failed movies, there is still a large amount of DCEU fans out there. During the times of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League, there were plenty of dedicated fans of the DCEU who defended the movies passionately.
Comic book fans are some of the most loyal people when it comes to their movies. Marvel Studios has already engraved an insurmountable number of fans that will keep giving Marvel the bucks in the box office. There are also many people (like me) who were brought up on the MCU as kids and plan on staying until the wheels fall off. Whether you like the MCU or not, you can’t deny their greatness.
Marvel Studios has pulled off a feat that’s never been done in the history of film. After 23 films, multiple TV shows, and more the Marvel Cinematic Universe still stands high and mighty as a juggernaut in the world of film.
