Patty Jenkins: “‘Wonder Woman 3’ is On Pause.”

COVID-19 has another casualty, and this time, it affects an Amazonian demigod. Again. And even more still. Read on. You’ll see.

At first, Patty Jenkins delayed the release of Wonder Woman 1984 to October 2 because movie theaters were closed in June, but now Wonder Woman 3 has been officially stalled for the same damn reason. The source is the acclaimed director herself. And she doesn’t even know when it’s coming back to production.

I’ve really hit the pause button, because the truth is, where that plot line was coming from was our state of being six months ago. And so I want to make sure that I’m totally absorbing whatever the result of this pandemic is.”

Jenkins goes on to say she is “totally absorbing whatever the result of this pandemic is.” However long that absorption takes will add even more time DC Films is able to give us some more of Diana from Themyscira (Gal Gadot) because she had a stop-gap in mind as the interlude between the second and third part of the Wonder Woman trilogy.

There have been rumors about a spin-off from the Wonder Woman trilogy and Patty Jenkins confirmed it — before Wonder Woman 3 there will be a movie focused on the Amazons.

“I’m not going to nail down a fresh thought about it until this movie comes out, because I kind of want to give myself a palette cleanser, and be fresh of mind…but yeah, there’s an arc that I have in mind for the first movie, and then the second movie, and then the Amazon movie, and then the third movie.”

So, this Amazonian perspective then the attempt at Wonder Woman 3? Okay, okay. First, COVID-19, then Wonder Woman 1984. Then, Amazons. And then, Wonder Woman 3. We can do that, right?

Wrong.

We’re not starting to work on that movie right away. I’m hoping to do this Amazon movie before we do the third Wonder Woman. And I may not do either of them.

You never know what will happen in this world, you know? But yes, I think the plotline will stay very similar, probably. But I want to make sure it’s influenced by all of this. Diana Prince versus the chaotic, destructive forces of 2020? We know whose corner we’re in.

Ah, hell. Anyone know where she keeps that lasso of truth?
