Play ‘The Old Guard’ and Win an Immortal Netflix Account

This is not a game. Well, it is, and Netflix is behind the whole thing — play The Old Guard game. If you do, you could win a free Netflix account that lasts for 83 years. Yes, really!

Netflix has found a clever way to gain even more eyeballs on one of its most streamed movies to date. The Old Guard. The Image Comics adaptation stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, and the great Chiwetel Ejiofor as ‘Copley.’ The wild tale is about a clandestine group of immortal mercenaries…and it’s so dope.

As fate would have it, they are exposed unknowingly and have to fight their way through time and a few dozen paramilitary groups. The fight sequences are great. The story is captivating. And now, you can get in on the fun with this group of ass-kicking immortals.

The Old Guard is great for many reasons. Chief among them is this: Marvel and DC Comics aren’t the only comics that can tell a good story. Bloodshot didn’t do any favors for Valiant Comics. Yet, Image Comics is enjoying quite a bump in Web traffic thanks to the Netflix movie.

And here’s how you’re going to help…

Netflix announced a nationwide U.S. competition for an “Immortal Netflix Account.”

Of course, this isn’t Highlander or New Gods. “Immortal” for Netflix is 1,000 months of free content, or 83 years. That is definitely enough time to binge whatever they streaming juggernaut hurls in your direction.

The Old Guard Game

The way to win is earn the highest score in an original The Old Guard videogame. There, you play as Labrys-wielding immortal Andy (a.k.a. Andromache of Scythia), and battle hordes of enemies with your double-headed axe. The game goes live tomorrow, July 17.

“But how long is immortality, really? Netflix can’t promise a truly eternal subscription to its service, but it can offer the closest alternative: 1000 months of service, which comes out to a bit over 83 years.”

The film — and now, the PC game — takes its cue from the acclaimed graphic novel from Greg Rucka. The movie, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, gives inspiration to the game. Essentially, dying doesn’t mean the game is over. If you die in the game, you just slow down. This means it is harder to hit the high score within the allotted time — three days!

And if you are the one who gets the high score, an “immortal” Netflix account is all yours. Remember: The game will only be live for three days, starting tomorrow. So go stream The Old Guard, play for the high score, and drop Image Comics a line. This is their baby and welcome into the world of CBMs, for real.
