Few themes in television history bring up the feels as well as the theme of The Golden Girls. The sitcom was so beloved that memorabilia quickly leaves websites and ends up in fan’s homes. And now, thanks to a spirited real estate market, the Golden Girls’ house — Lanai and all — can be yours for a paltry fee of $3 million.
The Golden Girls, which ran from 1985 to 1992, is one of TV’s most celebrated sitcoms. For those not in the know, it starred Rue McClanahan as Blanche, a widow who opened up her home to three roommates played by Betty White (Rose), Bea Arthur (Dorothy), and Estelle Getty (Sophia).
Their house is a cozy 2,901 square feet, four bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home snuggled in the bougie Brentwood neighborhood of SoCal. Yes, TV fans. That’s southern California and not the Corona-plagued southern Florida.
Thanks to an ET exclusive, we learn the actual — and only(ish) — owner of the fabled home of America’s quartet of menopausal hilarity is waxing sentimental about the sale.
James Barry, 65, is the trustee of the home, where he also grew up. James is the son of David Noble Barry III and his wife, Margaret Carr Barry, who built the house in 1955. The pair lived their until their deaths — David died in 2017 and Margaret in 2019.
How cool is that? Oddly, Barry’s parents weren’t considered fans of the show, but they loved the esteem it brought their home that was supposed to be in Miami at 6151 Richmond St.
(FYI, no such address actually exists.)
“Even the times I have gone back to the home recently, there is always someone walking by, parking in front or taking a picture. They are very respectful. Sometimes they ask me questions. It’s an older show, and the interest from young people is incredible. A lot of the people who come by are super young.”

- “The Brady Bunch” house — Located in Studio City, California, the house was recently renovated by the six actors who played The Brady children for HGTV’s “A Very Brady Renovation.” Sold for $3.5 million.
- “Full House” house — As a member of San Francisco’s iconic “Painted Ladies” row of Victorian homes, the three-story facade was put on the market in February. This was sold for $5.5 million.
- “Sex and the City” brownstone — The apartment facade is located in New York’s West Village and played home to the many dramas of Carrie Bradshaw’s love life. This one sold in 2012 for over $200,000 its asking price. It’s New York, so $9.65 million shouldn’t surprise you.
